There are a large number of dehumidifier brands on the market. However, rather than the usual array of brand names that you’ll come across recurring in the small appliance market, most dehumidifier manufacturers specialise in just dehumidifiers and sometimes also air purifiers. This means that unless you’ve bought a dehumidifier before, it is unlikely that you’ll have heard of many of them.
We will cover all of the major manufacturers and nearly all of the smaller players in the area below:
EcoAir
A range of EcoAir dehumidifiers are currently dominating the market. We like their models because of their ease of use, extraction performance, reasonable pricing and because we’re usually clutching at straws when trying to find negatives to talk about within our reviews.
Recommended Refrigerant Model
The EcoAir DC12 sets the benchmark for an entry-level dehumidifier by giving fortunate owners numerous benefits that were previously only found on more expensive models. It has got a great range of functions, it’s quiet and it’s powerful too. Read EcoAir DC12 Review.
Recommended Desiccant Model
The EcoAir DD122FW Classic frequently tops the sales charts and that doesn’t happen by accident. It comes with all of the functions you could hope for, has a ‘super quiet’ mode that is as good as it sounds and has the added benefit of an ioniser and antibacterial filter to purify the air. De’Longhi
DeLonghi are best known for their small kitchen appliances, but they also manufacture a good range of stylishly Italian dehumidifiers. Aside from their handsome exterior, DeLonghi dehumidifiers are known for their quality and longevity.
Recommended Refrigerant Model
The DeLonghi DES16E tops their refrigerant range and is the best model of the range due to the addition of a digital control panel. The airflow design of this sleek appliance means that it can be pushed up against a wall, rather than requiring 20cm to 40cm of clearance that most other dehumidifiers do. Read DeLonghi DES16E review.
Recommended Desiccant Model
The DNC65 is the only desiccant model that DeLonghi produce, but that shouldn’t put you off. It weighs next to nothing and is shockingly small in stature. Despite its diminutive dimensions it still has the required power to suit most homes. Read DeLonghi DNC65 review.
Meaco
Meaco are a long-established player in the dehumidifier market and their desiccant dehumidifier, the DD8L (see below) is one of the best-selling dehumidifiers of all time. All Meaco dehumidifiers have easy to understand control panels and show great extraction performance for their respective classes. Their ‘Low Energy’ dehumidifiers (see below) are the most efficient dehumidifiers on the market.
Recommended Refrigerant Model
The Meaco 20L Low Energy is the most powerful of all their domestic dehumidifiers, yet it requires just 255W, arguably making it the most efficient machine on the market per litre of water extracted. It is a top quality machine and we highly recommend it. Read Meaco 20L Low Energy review.
Recommended Desiccant Model
The Meaco DD8L comes in two forms, the ‘Junior’ model doesn’t have an ioniser or antibacterial filter but is cheaper than the standard unit. Either option would be a good choice as they are very quiet, light and boast impressive extraction rates, even at low temperatures. Read Meaco DD8L review.
Ebac
Ebac are unique in that all of their machines are built in the UK at their County Durham manufacturing plant. They are renowned for building strong, powerful and reliable refrigerant dehumidifiers. Their 2650e dehumidifier is getting a little dated now, so we recommend the Ebac 3850e.Other Dehumidifier Manufacturers
We would recommend that you stick within the ‘big 4’ manufacturers listed above when searching for your next dehumidifier. There are other manufacturers that produce very limited ranges, such as Dimplex with the Forte 10L, but these machines tend to be manufactured by generic Chinese companies who then allow numerous ‘manufacturers’ to put their own brand names on it. They almost invariably aren’t as quiet and refined as those listed above. You can hover over the ‘Brands’ button in the menu bar above to see a drop-down list of all of the manufacturers that we have dehumidifier reviews for.
